Continue on through the Rogers Pass in Glacier National Park with endless views of snow capped mountains and stunning glaciers. Back onboard the Rocky Mountaineer follow the Thompson River through rolling plateaus to the snowy peaks of the Monashee Mountains. Traditional rodeo events, such as bareback bronc riding, bull riding, barrel racing, saddle bronc, steer wrestling and tie-down roping, keep the excitement going all throughout the day and into the evening
Day 9 Calgary Stampede | Chuckwagon Races + Evening Grandstand Show
Today is at leisure to enjoy the Calgary Stampede. Tonight, we meet at Stampede Park for a special dinner in the Clubhouse, located on the fourth level of the Grandstand, before the main event, the Chuckwagon Races and Grandstand Show. The Chuckwagon Races are an event to remember, as 36 wagon drivers compete for over $1 million in prize money. Feel the excitement build over each of the nine heats, as sounds of horse hooves pounding the earth fill the air. When the winner crosses the finish line, the Grandstand Show begins. Acrobats, musicians, dancers and other talented performers entertain us all night before the evening concludes with a colorful fireworks display

Today is at leisure to enjoy the Calgary Stampede. Then this evening check out the energy of Chuckwagon racing, one of the world's most spectacular sports, has a history as old and as colorful as the West itself. There are many legends surrounding the origin of these exciting races, but one seems to have surfaced as the most popular. Years ago, the only ‘home’ a range cowboy knew was a chuckwagon sitting still on the prairie. Each evening, the hard working cowboys would gather around their wagon for a hearty meal and swap stories near the campfire before bedding down under a blanket of stars. At week’s end, the cowboys would hurriedly pack up their chuckwagon and race each other to town –- the last driver, as legend has it, was obligated to buy the first round of drinks at the town saloon. After the Chuckwagon Races enjoy the evening Grandstand Show. This world class entertainment features The Young Canadians as well as headliner acts which are sure to excite and entertain. To close the evening's entertainment, TransAlta lights up the night with a world class fireworks display. A perfect ending to an evening filled with thrills and excitement.
