Of course, a classic rail vacation wouldn’t be complete without world-class accommodation. Canada’s prestigious Fairmont Hotels were built as early as 1893 by the Canadian Pacific Railway company, and their reputations have only become more iconic over time. There are 19 Fairmont hotels spread out across the country –11 in Western Canada, one in Winnipeg and seven in Eastern Canada—and a stay in at least one is essential for any classic rail vacation.
