Grand Canada Railway Hotels | Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel

Nestled in the heart of Banff National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel stands as a testament to Canada's rich history and natural beauty. The hotel's origins trace back to 1888 when it was established by the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) as part of a series of grand railway hotels designed to promote tourism across Canada. The original wooden structure, designed by architect Bruce Price, accommodated 280 guests. Unfortunately, a fire in 1926 destroyed this initial building. Subsequently, the hotel was rebuilt in 1928, featuring the Châteauesque architectural style characterized by steep pitched roofs, ornate dormers, and gables. Notably, an eleven-story tower designed by Walter S. Painter was added between 1911 and 1914, enhancing the hotel's majestic appearance .

Today, the Fairmont Banff Springs boasts 739 guest rooms and suites, ranging from cozy quarters to spacious suites with sweeping mountain views.
