Lucas Colombo

Full Stack Web Developer

Lucas arrived in Canada from Brazil in 2018 and has since fallen in love with Vancouver.

From the kindness of people to the gorgeous landscapes, everything became an incentive for him to come back and plunge headfirst into software development.

After completing his bachelor's degree in mechatronic engineering, he returned to Langara College to pursue his post-degree diploma.

The developer’s path was more than a career choice, but a chance to find his freedom and find a workplace that respected his work.

So, perhaps it was not a surprise that he found himself at the doorstep of Discover Holidays, now helping others to find the same joy of travel that changed his life.

What is your favorite place in Canada?

Every time I need some quiet, there’s always peace to be found at Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver. It’s a modest place, but something about the park always brings me serenity, and suddenly everything else makes sense. Maybe it’s the duck pond or the flower fields.

What is your best travel memory in Canada?

Traveling alone around Canada can be an incredible experience. For me, it was getting to see snow and (try) to go snowboarding for the first time on Grouse Mountain. I got to bring home a scar with me to remind me how I had a bit too much fun trying!

What one thing in Canada should you experience at least once in your life?

Hikes and trails are really special here, especially when you’re in good company. I still have many photos and memories I cherish from looking far into the distance and appreciating the beautiful landscape and the ever-watching mountains watching down over you from their sky-reaching peaks.
