Born in Osaka, Japan, Shiori first came to British Columbia, Canada, in 2015.
Her plan was to stay for just one year of school, but after falling in love with the country and its multiculturalism she decided to stay and study Tourism Management and Business Administration.
After college, Shiori worked as a Travel Agent and has continued growing her career in tourism with her new role at Discover Holidays.
With Vancouver now her long-term home, Shiori loves to go hiking, paddle boarding, snowboarding, camping and adventuring out in nature.
What is your favorite place in Canada?
Harrison Lake is one of my absolute favorite places in Canada. There's such a large variety of outdoor activities you can do, and even after multiple visits to the area I still haven’t explored enough. I always get so excited when I find a hidden, amazing spot to camp by the water with spectacular mountain views in the background!
What is your best travel memory in Canada?
My best travel memory in Canada was the road trip I took from Vancouver to the Rocky Mountains. There are truly so many beautiful places to visit there, and I especially enjoyed Jasper, Banff and the stunning views in front of me as I drove towards Mt Robson. It's also pretty incredible how much wildlife can be seen near the highways just as you drive.
What one thing in Canada should you experience at least once?
Paddle boarding or kayaking at a lake in Vancouver or even in False Cleek is highly recommended. It's amazing how you can enjoy beautiful urban and mountain views at the same time from the water. I was particularly lucky as I had a chance to see a beaver dam and the family of beavers just two feet in front of me! It’s very relaxing and the perfect way to end my day after work o4 on the weekend.
